About Chamber of Industries Morang (CIM)

CIM Overview

Chamber of Industries Morang (CIM) is a bold and dynamic organization which has served the needs of industries, business, nonprofit, and government organizations for the last 55 years. Biratnagar, known as the industrial capital city of Nepal, has been home to many notable manufacturing industrial companies.

CIM works to support the rights and interests of private sector members. CIM operates a Skill Development Unit (SDU) in collaboration with the Enhanced Skills for Sustainable and Rewarding Employment (ENSSURE) program to provide skilled human resources, gather demands from the private sector, and strengthen the capacity of CIM members in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

Skill Development Program

In order to bridge the gap between labour market demand and supply, a systematic education-employment linkage program is implemented through the establishment of the Skill Development Unit at CIM. The Unit is being established in cooperation with the ENSSURE Project, supported by Swiss Development Cooperation.

The Unit's activities are designed to ensure the availability of skilled human resources as required by member industries, contributing to the development of the workforce and industry in the region.

ENSSURE

Enhanced Skills for Sustainable and Rewarding Employment (ENSSURE) is a bilateral project between the Government of Nepal (GoN) and the Government of Switzerland. The goal of the project is to support Nepalese youths, women, and men in gaining social and economic benefits from a federalized TVET system.

The project has been helping three spheres of government to assume their constitutional responsibilities in delivering TVET functions. Additionally, ENSSURE works with industries and their associations to reduce the skill demand-supply gap and improve the employability of skilled human resources.

Helvetas Nepal, as the Technical Assistance (TA) Provider, supports the three spheres of government to plan, implement, and institutionalize dual VET and other project activities. The project also ensures active participation of the private sector and builds its capacity to engage in the TVET sector.
